Human Resources Overview

The Human Resources Department supports and promotes a values-driven culture in order to be responsive to the needs of The California Wellness Foundation. The department drives performance management and change management initiatives with organizational and leadership development strategies that align with the overall goals of the Foundation.


 

Caitlin Adams,
Director of Human Resources

Caitlin Adams is director of human resources for The California Wellness Foundation. She strives to champion a culture of innovation and creativity, and lead human resource efforts to support the Foundation’s mission, values and goals. Her responsibilities include developing, delivering and promoting best practices in human resources leadership, operations, legal compliance, recruiting, performance management, employee relations, and compensation and benefits.

Caitlin Adams is director of human resources for The California Wellness Foundation. She strives to champion a culture of innovation and creativity, and lead human resource efforts to support the Foundation’s mission, values and goals. Her responsibilities include developing, delivering and promoting best practices in human resources leadership, operations, legal compliance, recruiting, performance management, employee relations, and compensation and benefits.

She joined the Foundation in June 2017 after serving as director of human resources for Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles. Previously, she worked her way up from human resources associate to director of human resources over the course of ten years with The Broad Foundations & Family Office Financial Services. She began her career as a human resources assistant with First Regional Bank (now First Citizens Bank).

Adams holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Barnard College of Columbia University in New York.

Brandon Smith,
Human Resources Administrator

Brandon Smith is the human resources administrator for The California Wellness Foundation. Working with the director of human resources, Smith assists with overseeing all human resources functions at the Foundation. These duties include serving as the primary recruiter for nonexempt and temporary positions at Cal Wellness; helping to ensure compliance with all government and legal regulations related to employment and employee relations; administering all benefits plans; managing the onboarding process for new hires; guiding employees regarding Foundation policies and procedures; and conducting exit interviews.

Brandon Smith is the human resources administrator for The California Wellness Foundation. Working with the director of human resources, Smith assists with overseeing all human resources functions at the Foundation. These duties include serving as the primary recruiter for nonexempt and temporary positions at Cal Wellness; helping to ensure compliance with all government and legal regulations related to employment and employee relations; administering all benefits plans; managing the onboarding process for new hires; guiding employees regarding Foundation policies and procedures; and conducting exit interviews.

He joined the Foundation in 2015 after serving as a human resources generalist for NAS Insurance Services. Previously, Smith was also the human resources manager for Totally Kids Specialty Healthcare for eight years. His combined experience includes recruiting for open positions, conducting new employee orientations, organizing insurance benefits and enrollment, recommending policy and procedure changes for compliance with state and federal laws, processing payroll, and educating staff members on how to prevent and reduce work-related injuries.

Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from California State University, Northridge, where he graduated summa cum laude.

Wendy Torres,
Office Services Coordinator

Wendy Torres is an office services coordinator at The California Wellness Foundation. Based in the Woodland Hills office, she ensures the smooth operation of office and administrative functions, including directing calls and planning meetings. She also oversees the mailroom and office facilities.

Wendy Torres is an office services coordinator at The California Wellness Foundation. Based in the Woodland Hills office, she ensures the smooth operation of office and administrative functions, including directing calls and planning meetings. She also oversees the mailroom and office facilities.

Torres joined Cal Wellness in October 2012 as an assistant within the executive department. She was named to her current position in October of 2016.

Previously, she was an onsite manager and certified personnel supervisor for a staffing agency, where she coordinated payroll, new employee hires, orientations and various administrative duties.

Torres attended American Career College and is currently enrolled at Glendale Community College.
