On October 1, we will launch a streamlined grants program that will better leverage our knowledge and resources while concentrating on the highest needs and opportunities in California. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we conducted our strategic planning process and reflected on where we’ve been and where we needed to go in pursuit of our mission.
While some areas will change, three things remain the same:
Most of all, our mission, goals and guiding principles will not change. We are honoring our past work while laying the groundwork for our new direction.
We are excited to announce that beginning October 1, the Foundation will accept online submissions of letters of interest through the Cal Wellness Grants Portal. The portal will streamline the submission of Letters of Interest, grant proposals and grant reports.
Upcoming Webinars on New Grants Program
Cal Wellness will be hosting one-hour webinars on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 10 a.m. and on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 10 a.m. Please join us to learn about our next phase of our grantmaking and online grants application process. You'll hear from members of our Grants Program and Grants Management departments as they introduce our funding areas and the new online procedure for submitting grant requests. To sign up, click on one or both of the following dates: October 7 & October 9.
Our Board and staff have been busy since our November 1, 2013 pause in accepting unsolicited letters of interest. Since then, we have made 291 grants totaling more than $17.5 million Of these grants:
Nearly $4 million was for a cluster of grants aimed at supporting efforts to educate and enroll hard-to-reach and underinformed populations about the Affordable Care Act.
$80,000 was for a cluster of grants to frontline organizations providing health care and support services to unaccompanied minors migrating from Central America. For more information, see “A Humanitarian Crisis: Supporting the Health of Unaccompanied Migrant Children.”
