Lauren Alexander is senior communications officer. She is a strategic communications and public policy leader with more than a decade of experience shaping high-impact narratives across philanthropy, technology, and civil society. She brings a social justice lens to her work, with a focus on aligning communications strategies with equity, accountability, and community-centered outcomes.
Alexander has led communications at organizations including Omidyar Network, Apple, Twitter, and Lyft, where she has guided executive messaging, managed crisis and policy communications, and built strategies around emerging technologies, public health, and safety. Earlier in her career, she held roles at the ACLU of California and the New York Civil Liberties Union, where she developed statewide campaigns and media strategies to advance racial and economic equity through policy change.
She holds a master’s in public policy from the University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Alexander is based in Oakland and is committed to advancing narratives that center community voice, build trust, and drive meaningful systems change.
